Homeless Dave will take to his grave,
a kodak photograph of himself next to Faye Dunaway--big grin on his face.
He slept with high-class prostitutes from disability checks, traded homelessness for sex.
There's a young man I know, knows where to find blow.
Owns 8 pairs of shoes, and a pack of cigarettes.
Drinks with his friends, and bumps their chests.
But he only loved his cousin,
Who hung himself last week.
Everybody knows
but nobody speaks.
I met a bird, she was stuck in a tree
Staring at the streets underneath me
Singing Let It Be
though she isn't free,
I went back to her place
When I had nothing left to say.
She said, "Would you love me without any promises?
Could you love me if I didn't make any promises?"
Sheila owns a TV, collects old movies on VHS to calm her distress,
watches pictures of life with people who don't change,
and things which won't fade,
until the tapes become frayed
Dull like the grey
on homeless Dave's face.
My old friend, he broke our date
To see a girl, because she is a girl
He wants to be her entire world,
but she is not the type
for one at a time.
